The GOD’S Walking Club approach

More than a food box.

Winter support works best when food access is connected to relationship, movement, spiritual grounding, practical learning, and dependable community care.

GOD’S Walking Club brings these parts together in one small, relational wellness system designed around wisdom people and the realities of a Michigan winter.

The goal is not to hand out isolated products. The goal is to help participants remain nourished, connected, moving, encouraged, informed, and actively involved in their own wellness and family life.

Movement & stretchingGentle, accessible activity that supports mobility, routine, and confidence through winter.
Prayer & fellowshipSpiritual encouragement, conversation, check-ins, and community belonging.
Whole-food nourishmentPractical access to foods aligned with the cohort’s approved nutrition standards.
EducationSimple learning that helps wisdom people understand, choose, prepare, and use food well.
Food sovereigntyGardening, herbs, produce, harvest knowledge, and community food relationships.
Technology & family connectionPatient support that keeps communication, learning, and family participation within reach.
Approved winter food standards

Food that supports the whole journey.

Winter Wellness food partners are asked to support clear, practical nourishment standards for the cohort. Shelf stability matters, and so does the quality of what is placed on the shelf.

These standards guide partnership conversations and product selection without displaying or discussing any participant’s private health or medication information.

Whole-food centeredRecognizable, nourishing foods that support practical meals and snacks.
No sodium or very low sodiumProducts should avoid excess sodium and clearly support heart-conscious food choices.
Little to no added sugarProducts should avoid unnecessary added sugar and support steady, balanced nourishment.
Shelf-stable and usefulFoods should store safely, prepare simply, and fit real winter household needs.

A proven beginning

Deeply Rooted Produce helped establish the proof of concept.

In 2024, a pilot partnership with Deeply Rooted Produce served two GOD’S Walking Club wisdom people.

That focused pilot demonstrated the value of right-sized, seasonal support delivered through an existing relationship of trust. It gave H2BE a practical foundation for reaching the current 20-person winter cohort while keeping the work personal, accountable, and connected to the full Walking Club experience.

Partnership paths

Bring what you do well into a complete wellness system.

Food producers, distributors, grocers, farms, foundations, congregations, and community partners can participate through one or more focused paths.

Path 01

Product contributions

Provide approved shelf-stable, whole-food items that meet the cohort’s sodium and added-sugar standards.

Path 02

Matched products

Match H2BE or community purchases so each committed resource reaches more wisdom people.

Path 03

Pantry support

Help assemble a dependable winter pantry with useful quantities and practical meal combinations.

Path 04

Delivery & logistics

Support safe, timely movement of food and wellness materials during Michigan winter conditions.

Path 05

Education

Offer accessible food knowledge, preparation guidance, producer stories, or nutrition learning.

Path 06

Sponsorship

Fund coordinated food, movement, communication, delivery, learning, and fellowship for the cohort.

Partnership principle: Every contribution should strengthen relationship, dignity, practical use, and continued participation—not simply increase the number of items distributed.
