The story of H2BE begins with the life of Dr. Adão José Domingos Kapilango — freedom fighter, scholar, and father of our Executive Director. His legacy of justice and education is the foundation we build upon today.

H2BE is also rooted in the life of Julia Ida Richards Wanzer Kapilango, a trailblazer in education, faith, and service. Her pioneering roles in business, government, and church leadership broke barriers for women and Black families alike.
