Founding Legacy: Dr. Adão José Domingos Kapilango
The story of H2BE begins long before its official recognition — it is rooted in the life and legacy of Dr. Adão José Domingos Kapilango, freedom fighter, scholar, and father of our Executive Director, Dr. Denguhlanga Julia Kapilango Divine.
Born in Angola, Dr. Adão carried the struggle for liberation in his body and spirit. He fought for the dignity of his people, resisted oppression, and stood as a bridge between continents, languages, and cultures. His life was marked by sacrifice, leadership, and unwavering belief in the power of education and justice to transform societies.
Today, H2BE honors his legacy by carrying forward the same commitment to freedom, knowledge, and community empowerment. His memory is not only family history — it is the ancestral foundation of our nonprofit, guiding every step we take in literacy, food sovereignty, healing, and justice. Through his life and vision, we are reminded that remembrance is not passive — it is an active seed of transformation.
“Together, the lives of Dr. Adão José Domingos Kapilango and Julia Ida Wanzer Kapilango form the living roots of H2BE. Their legacies of freedom and faith continue in every program, every story, and every generation we serve.”
